You need to know this.

Your desire to look like you have it all together as an actor is holding you back.

It will probably keep you from reaching your full potential as an actor.

Watch this quick video and see what I mean.

Carol Dweck, PhD in her book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success writes about how our most basic beliefs impact our ability to achieve:

Carol-Dweck-Two-Mindsets (image)

Do you have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset?

Here’s a really good barometer. When you hear a success story of another actor who’s similar to you in some way, how do you feel?

Do you feel a tiny bit threatened by that person’s success? Or do you feel energized and inspired by their success?

Do you come up with all the reasons why it was easier or more obvious for them to do it… or does it get YOUR juices flowing?

Be honest with yourself.

You may have some elements of a fixed mindset now, but you can change that… by cultivating and internalizing a passion for learning and getting better.

I’ve designed the ARG Pro membership to serve actors with a growth mindset. Our monthly masterclasses help fill in knowledge gaps, and give you new ideas for innovative ways to move forward. And our monthly industry expert interviews inspire you and help you connect with people in the industry who are already highly successful and vibrating on a high frequency.

Your mindset is one of your greatest assets. It’s exactly what is going to take you and your career to exciting heights.

  1. Love this Ajarae, this is so true and I just had an experience like this with and audition I went to do for the local theatre. I went in with the mind set of I got this and gave a very strong audition per the director feed back . So that made me feel good even though I didn’t get the part, I made a connection and she will remember me for another project down the road. Thanks for sharing your insight . You rock ..))
