Do you ever feel like too much time is passing? And you’re not making enough progress in your acting career?
Here’s what I have to say about that…
Here’s the article that contains Ann Dowd’s speech if you want to read it.
These words resonated deeply with me:
“Trust yourself and trust that there is a place at the table for you.”
Sometimes it seems like we are at the mercy of external factors. Like “Yeah, someone FINALLY gave Ann Dowd her big break, and she was 56!”
But that’s not true.
Humility and gratitude and our own faith are all things that we do have control over.
You got this.
If you are looking for an amazing community of fellow actors to support you, Actors Who Get It is that kind of community. It’s a Facebook group exclusively for artists who are willing to take ownership of their careers, and who appreciate a positive and encouraging space to share ideas and ask for advice. Ajarae, thank you for commenting on this topic. I smile a bit when I hear you refer to yourself as “old” (I probably have socks older than you) or even 56 as old. I’m 65 and started acting two years ago. I couldn’t agree more that it’s the journey that’s most important. For any other choice, there lies madness.
