What You Should Be Doing With Your IMDb Profile
So many actors are out here in these streets freaking out about our websites.
“I need to get a whole new one built because mine is a mess, but I can’t afford it right now…”
“I need to add credits to my website, but my programmer is not replying to my emails…”
“My old headshots that don’t even look like me are on my website, so I don’t want to reach out to new agents…”
I’m going to tell you something important right now.
Don’t worry about your website, boo. If you want to be found online by casting directors, directors, producers, writers, anyone in the entertainment industry…?
Get your IMDB profile on point.
Websites are great, and I do believe you should have one eventually. It is like owning your online home… you can express your creativity, highlight what YOU want to highlight, share stuff in the format you want… and own the rights to your content.
People MIGHT see your website if ranks high enough in a Google search. But EVERYONE is looking at IMDB. That’s just a fact.
So go on ahead and get these tips.
In the video I explain five easy steps to optimize your IMDb page with IMDbPro. Step one is getting an account. At the moment I am writing this, you can start with a 30-day free trial. And after that, you gotta bite the bullet in order to maintain control of your content on your account. #costofdoingbusiness
Let’s make that IMDB page one that you’ll want to show off. 🙂
Your turn! Share your IMDb page in the comments below!
Show me yours and I’ll show you mine…
Ha! Kidding!

Great tips, Ajarae, that a lot of actors forget!
I also think it’s smart to add your Bio to IMDb because when people search for you on regular IMDb (not IMDb pro) the space to the right of your picture comes up as blank rather than filled in with a bio. The bio is a chance to tell more about yourself, too, and your credits don’t tell the whole story.

Hi ajarae
Are we related? Lol.I have a problem with Imdb that I don’t think anyone is aware of and needs to be addressed. IMDb allows anyone to post information about you on your page without your verification.
Last year someone posted that I was married which wasn’t at all true. Someone voluntarily posted birthday information etc that I didn’t volunteer. IMDb charges a subscription fee however you do not have 100% control over the information posted on your page such as your birthday if someone post your birthday. I have repeatedly contacted IMDb about this. Their reply was we are obligated to have factual information about you . But how can it be factual if some random person you don’t know is posting false information about you that Imdb doesn’t verify with you?
They finally removed the information about me being married but will not remove the birthday. We pay a yearly subscription to Actors Access and have total control over our information. It should be the same for IMDb both Pro and public page.
So I have neglected to subscribe to them and give them any money for that reason.

I hear you, Ms. Coleman. A lot of people are bothered by the fact that our ages are public on IMDB, especially when a lot of us don’t play our actual ages. And this is a fact that it doesn’t look like will be changed. I would just caution you against avoiding it altogether when there are other aspects of the profile that you can control, and it is such a widely-used and consulted tool in our industry. But, ultimately, obviously, it’s up to you.

Hi! Thanks for your helpful site!
I’m an English actor living and working in Paris, France. Here’s my IMDb page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0051720/
I have a couple of questions:
The page has automatically rooted out some pretty useless video trailers that I don’t even feature in. What’s worse, one of them is actually up there hitting people the face as an ugly black rectangle as soon as they open my page. Can I get rid of these stupid things? As in, delete them?
And THEN: I have uploaded two of my demo reels (one from 2011 and the latest one – check it out! – from 2019) and have designated the new one as my primary reel. What I’d really like is for this to be the featured video that people see when they open my page, instead of that ugly black rectangle. Is this possible, and how?
My second question concerns photos.
My most recent headshots are all on there, and I’ve chosen a principal one and six featured ones. Now I’d like to add a number of character shots from various things I’ve been in, but I’d like them to appear lower down, after the non-featured headshots. Is it possible to shift around the order in which photos appear? I’ve tried but so far haven’t managed to do this. I don’t want to add those character shots yet because they’ll make my non-featured headshots sink further down the page.
Sorry to go on. Hope you can follow all this. As a technophobe I find it all rather complicated. In any case, if you have time to reply to my two questions I’d be so grateful.
Once again, thanks for your excellent blog, and I wish you every success and some peachy roles!
