What You Need In Your Actor Toolkit
Happy Tuesday Actors! A few weeks ago we spoke with the amazing David H. Lawrence XVII who gave us the rundown on breaking into voiceover. David also runs a super-resourceful website called ActingAnswers.com, where actors go to get answers and tips to the questions we all have. Something he mentions that I wanted to go over today is the “Actor’s Toolkit”, the basic necessities that every actor should always have on hand. The key here is preparation.
Picture this: You get an audition, you prepare, you know your lines, you’re ready to go. You show up to the studio early and… it turns out you need to park a mile away from the audition, and you’re in heels. Then you get to the audition and you find out casting lost your headshot so they need another one, plus the sides changed so you need to relearn your scene. This actually happened to me, and it’s okay, these things happen, but wouldn’t it be much easier if you had walking shoes, an extra headshot, and a highlighter on hand? These are the essentials you absolutely need that may not be the first things you think about.
Now I want to hear from you! What’s something in your actor toolkit that you never leave home without? Share in the comments below (and win an exclusive Workshop Guru tote bag!)

Awesome Ajarae,
One thing in my toolkit are skills to get into a resourceful state.
-Like imagining a tangerine balancing on the back top part of your head.
-Feeling the breathe in your nostrils
