The Class Every Actor Should Be In
In this episode of Guru Tips For Actors, we discuss the class every actor should always be in… acting class!!
It’s pretty simple, if you are an actor who is serious about building relationships, you need to be in acting class. Acting, like any other art, is a craft, which requires consistent practice. But just as much as you get from the class, surrounding yourself with a community of like-minded individuals, who are all there with a purpose to learn and grow, is a huge and important aspect of taking class. People often compare acting to a muscle or an instrument, which needs to be flexed and practiced so it doesn’t get rusty.
I finish this video with a quote from one of my favorite books, The War of Art by Steven Pressfield, so be sure to listen to the end, because this is one that will really help you out.
What do you think? Let us know what you get out of taking class! Looking for a new one? Share in the comments below!

I absolutely agree with you as well. We must constantly be working on out craft, whether it’s in class, self producing or on set. Aside from class, I meet with a fellow actor weekly. We work on scenes and share our monthly goals to hold each other accountable. ☺️

Steven Anderson, Actors Work in North Hollywood. Best teacher in LA hands down. Never felt the need to go anywhere else. He’s amazing.

I’ve had a lot of great teachers, but I’m in an amazing class right now- Craig Archibald. It’s really hard for me to put my finger on what makes him so effective- he’s like an actor whisperer. His number one rule is that you don’t treat him like a guru- he reminds us that we are paying him, and we should be getting something for that payment. There are just a few small classes, and they are full of success stories. Right now in those classes are people who are in hit TV shows, on billboards all over L.A., have been in Oscar nominated movies in the last year, and have just booked movies with Oscar winning directors… as well as people just starting out. And most of these people had little or no career when they came to him. He’s easy going, he lovingly does not allow you to get away with any of your acting B.S, and I’ve never left a class feeling anything but inspired. I’ve seen him actively help his clients in the industry with his connections. Hell- he even puts out food. I couldn’t be happier. craigarchibald.com

agree! not just the need to be in class & working on the craft but to be in that community of fellow actors is so valuable & vital as we are finding our way in this unique profession where we strive to be vulnerable & strong enough to withstand it all at the same time.

The class that I love more than life itself is Margie Haber’s Studio. It has taught me so much more than just audition technique, although that is, indeed, how it is billed. It’s really a class on how to live the life of the character you are playing and to really delve deep into that character’s life. I highly suggest it to anyone who is looking to further his/her abilities.
