I didn’t even know you did these videos! So helpful 🙂 I’d love to hear about other actors’ experiences interning. I’ve always been interested!

Agree, agree, agree. Thank you for posting a video about an oft-neglected and powerful resource for many actors. 😀

Interning at a casting office was one of the best things I’ve done for myself and my career. I knowledge that I gained is immeasurable. You have to immerse yourself in it to truly understand what works and what casting directors experience. You also make great connections!

Hi! I’m currently interning at a great tv casting agency. Each and every audition is a “free” class. I am building a great rapport with the casting directors and associates. As was said in the video, target a specific casting agency. I chose the one I work with because they are nice. It is very refreshing to be in a casting office and see how high level professionals operate who are vey kind and supportive of each and every actor that walks through their doors. I highly recommend interning. And thanks for this video, I learned some tips about how to be more effective in following up with some other offices I would like to intern at, like when meeting them in a workshop!

As always – great and practical information. I did an internship years back when I lived in NY and it led to some really great theatrical auditions, getting representation, and of course, an opportunity to build a rapport daily with casting personnel along with learning TONS about the industry. Sometimes, what you learn in a casting office simply can’t be learned anywhere else.

Careful! Not as easy as it once was to intern.

“The Casting Society of America has decided it will no longer allow postings for internships through its webpage and sent a note out to its membership announcing its change of policy.”

    http://deadline.com/2014/02/casting-society-of-america-to-cease-internship-job-postings-labor-law-679974/

The best way to be considered for intern/coordinator/assistant jobs is to send a resumé to the CSA – info@castingsociety.com – asking to be considered for an internship. Keep in mind that it can be a thankless job – getting coffee, making copies, ordering lunch, typing schedules, answering phones. But i can also be fun, and help you to understand what happens behind closed doors, how decisions are made, and how actors often undermine their opportunities in a casting office. Maybe it’ll save you a few bucks in the workshop world, too. Once you see what actors do with that one shot at a role – both good and bad – you’ll realize that an internship may be all you ever need to “demystify the casting/audition process”. You may never pay for a workshop again!
