How To Handle Jealousy As An Actor
Welcome back! Last week I showed you how to handle survivor’s guilt… as an actor. It can be really hard not feeling just a bit guilty for your friends when you’ve started to achieve some level of success, especially when they haven’t yet. This week, I’m switching it around and showing you what to do when you’re the one who hasn’t yet hit your goals… and you’re feeling a bit jealous.
Believe me, we all feel jealous at some point, but there is a right frame of mind you should be thinking about it, otherwise it can totally bring you down. You don’t want to get stuck in that negative frame-of-mind.
Remember actors- the role that your friend booked was not your role and there is a role for everyone. You’ll find your stride, I promise you, but don’t dwell on negativity when you should simply be happy for a friend who’s achieving their goals (not to mention keeping a possible connection down the line!)
What do you think? Have you ever been jealous of a friend? How did you (or are you GOING to) overcome it? Share your thoughts in the comments below with your community of actors- you probably aren’t the only one who feels like that.
Do you have a burning question you want me to cover in an episode of GuruTips for Actors? I’ll be answering YOUR questions the last Tuesday of every month, so be sure to send them in to questions@workshopguru.com!
Until we all book a series!
xo,
