Agents VS Managers!
I’m pretty sure this question has been asked by every actor at least once over the course their career. I get it – especially here in LA, the line between agents and managers gets… pretty blurred.
From agents… to managers… to manager-style agents… to managers who are also agents… it gets real confusing.
Don’t worry, I’m breaking it down today into three clear areas to help clear up the confusion: regulation, role, and relationship.
Watch and learn the difference between agents and managers below!
Have you always wondered what the difference is between an agent and a manager? Here’s an explanation!
So to wrap-up:
– Agents are licensed by the state, managers are not.
– Agents are the only ones legally allowed to procure work and negotiate contracts… buuuut… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
– Managers tend to have smaller client lists
– Managers tend to stay with you for a longer portion of your career
Remember – these are just rules-of-thumb for representatives, but there are always exceptions.
I hope this helps! If you have a question on your mind, please send it to questions@actingresourceguru.com, and I’ll answer it in a future episode of Guru Tips For Actors! Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel, so you don’t miss any #GuruTips!
