Thank you for being so honest and talking about the Casting Director’s Workshops. It’s true how this is a way to network and get to know the C/D in town and also to work in front of them so you can audition in a more effective way. I appreciate the blunt points and how as actors we are always putting ourselves in a category of desperation. But no more as we learn to embrace our passion and together challenge the industry in Actors are worth their time and Actors are important and we are worth it.

Thank you for this. I’ve done workshops in the past and even been called in afterward. However, I’ve stopped for some time now, partially because of money, but also over whether they are really working. This was a reminder that I need to stay on top of building those relationships after and even though results may take time, workshops are really one of the best tools we have. I’m going to go back to my target list and find at least one workshop to attend this week.

I love your take on the CD workshops. If you go into them thinking you’re going to get a job then it will be a waste of money but if you take them to make connections in the industry and get a bit of practice, you’re on the right page. You;re so young to have written a book! How long did it take you? I’d love to read it btw. 🙂

Man!! That video was REALLY informative!! Calling all actors, you need to watch this video! Ajarae and Kim, you rock! I’m going to start increasing my workshop game ASAP. This video is a great reminder that we as actors do have value and are a very important part of the Hollywood “machine”. Seems obvious enough, but I think a lot of us lose sight of that. Just continue to be confident and great in the room, and good things will happen. Thanks Ajarae and Kim!

Excellent advice. Even though it is difficult to remain grounded when you’re reaching out to someone who has the power of the pen, I think extensive preparation will calm many of the fears.
